How Homes Are Built: Water Resistant Sheeting (Ep. 11) - Parade of Homes Wisconsin

September 06, 20232 min read

Hey folks, it's TJ here. Welcome back to another episode from the Parade of Home Series.  Last time, we dived deep into the intricacies of basement sealing and how it affects the final structure. Today, let's unravel another vital component of our home-building journey—water-resistant sheeting, more specifically, the blue sheeting you might have noticed.

Why Blue Sheeting? Enter LP Weather Logic

If you've ever passed by our construction sites, you might've noticed our interesting choice of blue for the houses. Well, let me clear the air—they aren't meant to stay blue. That unique color is courtesy of LP Weather Logic. Think of it as a sheeting that boasts a built-in water or weather-resistant barrier. This is our secret weapon to ensure every home we build remains leak-free.

Now, you might ask, why this over other barriers? From my experience, LP Weather Logic stands out as a powerhouse. It's not just about keeping water out; it's about enhancing air sealing, and ensuring our homes stay cozy and energy-efficient no matter the season. This is a continuation of our commitment to quality, reminiscent of how we focus on the smallest details like using basement seals for a perfect finish, as discussed in our previous episode.

The Magic Behind Taping: The LP Tape Flashing

Let's shift gears to another crucial element: the LP tape flashing. This isn't your everyday tape. Tailored for the LP board, there's an art to using it. Sure, you can stick it on, but for it to work its magic, we need to roll or squeeze the tape out. Doing so activates a unique bonding reaction, ensuring the tape and the board become almost inseparable.

You might wonder if it makes that big of a difference. Trust me, it does. A hands-on comparison between a merely stuck tape and a rolled one reveals it all. The latter just doesn't budge easily. You can see the technique in action in our YouTube Parade of Home Series.

Final Thoughts

When building homes, it's all about the details. I always emphasize quality, diligence, and precision in everything we do at Sanctified Homes.

I hope this episode sheds light on yet another component of our construction process. If you're intrigued and want to dive deeper, I'd recommend exploring more insights on our Parade of Home Series blog or getting a comprehensive view of our offerings on our website.
